Thanksgiving is the one day where no strings are attached. Go big or go home. It’s the one holiday where no diet matters. But the Fridayafter Thanksgiving can be tough for those who try so hard not to indulge for the second day in a row, especially when you have mounds of leftovers and the half eaten pumpkin pie is teasing you from the counter. Let’s not forgot about the alcohol you probably consumed from Thanksgiving eve, you can add that to the list of calories only if you’re counting. Here are some ways you can get right back on your health regimen after Turkey day.
Stay Hydrated
Drink your water, it will fill you up faster and keep you full.
Eat Breakfast
Do not skip the most important meal of the day especially the morning after over indulging. Breakfast helps jump start your metabolism for the day. Missing the first meal can result in over eating throughout the day, consuming more calories.
Protein, skip the carbs
With all the leftovers its hard to not eat whats there. But instead, substitute the leftover lasagna and stuffing for a side of steamed vegetables like, baby carrots or asparagus that are both high in fiber. Add the main dish of leftover white turkey meat which is high in protein and you’re set.
Get moving
Getting in exercise the day after will for sure shake off the sluggish feeling, whether its walking the dogs, playing with the kids outside or hitting the gym as long as your’re up and moving you’re burning the unwanted calories.
All in all, no matter the holiday, don’t overdo it. Enjoy the meal, eat in moderation, and be mindful about what it is you’re feeding your body. But most of all, feast on the company, and joyous connections you’re surrounded by.
