Bennu: The Hidden Gem

Bennu: The Hidden Gem

When I first discovered the bar and grill and modernized restaurant I was blown away with its overall appearance from food to customer service, to interior design. Bennu offers a wide menu including appetizers, wraps, salads, soups, burgers, paninis and burritos. All food is prepared fresh and is served and ready within minutes. With every sandwich, wrap or panini you have the choice of homemade chips which are a crispy seasoned potato chip, or tri-colored tortilla chips and salsa which is also freshly homemade. Located off of Oriskany Boulevard in Whitesboro, I call this restaurant a hidden gem because you wouldn’t know it was there unless you were looking for it. Surrounded by other restaurants and stores its hard to spot the bar and grill from a far. Stop n during the week for daily specials and drink specials. Check out the menu.

Inside Edition of Symeon’s Greek Restaurant

I sat down with Jessica Ciccolella, a hostess at Symeon’s greek Restaurant and she was eager to tell me all the ins and outs that goes on at Symeon’s restaurant, including popular dishes, what you can find, and what you can expect at this cultural cuisine. Symeon’s is one of the very few restaurants located a little outside of Utica that serves Greek cuisine.

Breaking Tradition

imageWith Thanksgiving nearring in closer and closer, each day, there’s no denying that some of us like to break tradition and eat out on Thanksgiving Day. (My family can attest to this) Who wants to be stuck washing the dishes and cleaning after a great dinner, every Thanksgiving?

For those of you who prefer eating out on Thanksgiving or simply want to try it for the first time, here are a list of restaurants opened in the Utica area and serving Thanksgiving-themed meals on Thanksgiving day that you may want to consider:

Dominique’s Chesterfield Restaurant- 1713 Bleecker St. Utica, NY

Garden Grille Restaurant at Radisson Hotel- Utica Centre – 200 Genessee St., Downtown Utica

The Beeches of Rome- 7900 Turn Road, Rome, NY

You may call for reservations at each one of these locations.

Sumo Japanese Steakhouse

Hibachi, sushi, spirits and entrees, there’s more to this Japanese cuisine than just the  average. Whether its grabbing sushi with friends, having dinner with the family at the hibachi grill, having a drink with a friend, or throwing a surprise birthday, Sumo has it all. Located in New Hartford, just on the outskirts of Utica, Sumos caters to your tastebuds for a reasonable price. For someone who has never been to sumos, I recommend the fried rice with yummy yummy sauce, (if you’re a regular, you know just what I’m talking about). Their menu also ranges from appetizers to adult entrees and kids entrees, to over 50 handmade sushi rolls. Their hibachi entrees are served with a soup and salad before every meal, which are always a nice starter to fill you up before you consume the real good stuff.
