Utica’s Famous Half Moon Cookies

Half moon cookies are famous around the world, but they actually originated right here in Utica, NY back in the 20th century. Around the world, these traditionally half black and half white cookies are called a number of different names. In New York city, they’re called black & white cookies. In Germany, they are called Amerikaneers. But Utica, NY hangs tight to the name half moon cookies.

Holland Farms, right here in Utica, has its own variations on the traditional way to make these cookies. They offer the traditional half vanilla/half chocolate frosting cookie, they offer cookies for special occasions such as Valentine’s Day, which would have a red frosting as a base, they even offer a carrot cookie with chocolate and vanilla cream cheese frosting and much more!

Networking Nights- Accounting

Networking Nights are back at Utica College.

The first round begins for UC students who are interesting in pursuing a career in the accounting field. Accounting Networking Night will be held Monday, Oct. 5 in the Carbone Auditorium in the Economic Crime and Justice Studies building on main campus. Networking Nights are hosted by the Office of Career Services.

Students will be put into small groups and all get the opportunity to meet with a handful of employers who will share their expertise on their careers. Light refreshments will be offered. The employers will give the students more insight about the companies being represented.

Students will learn about what careers their majors could potentially lead them to. The employers will share any job or internship opportunities their companies offer. Also, the employers will fill the students in on what qualifications the job requires of them.

Future networking nights will be hosted throughout the month of October for those studying Biology and Chemistry, Management, Non-Clinical Health, and Communication Arts, Public Relations, and Journalism.

Feel free to contact the director of Career Services Halina Lotyczewski at halotycz@utica.edu. You can also visit the Office of Career Services in the Strebel Student Center in room 206 to reserve a spot at one of the networking nights.
